An AMS crankshaft overhaul includes the following work:
- Check crankshaft for cracks
- Check crankshaft for dimensional accuracy and twisting / bending
- Check crankshaft bearings for dimensional accuracy
- Check the crankshaft connecting rod bearings for dimensional accuracy
- Crankshaft drill out old plugs - clean from inside
- Check sprockets for dimensional accuracy
- Check distributor drive, if present
- Grind crankshaft connecting rod bearing to - 0.25 mm
- Crankshaft connecting rod bearing inductive hardening
- Align and re-plug the crankshaft
- Finely grind and polish all bearing points
- Fine grinding and polishing of the contact surfaces of the Simmer rings
- Clean and flush the crankshaft with high frequency and high pressure
